So when I got the chance to review products from the TheraBreath company I was excited. We (my husband and I both) have taken the last month to test the products I received and overall we both like them, although I think I am a little more open to them than Mike is. (He really doesn't like change.)
TheraBreath was created in 1994 by Dr Katz in an effort to help people worldwide who suffer from bad breath. All of TheraBreath's products are kosher, gluten free and never tested on animals. They manufacture products for teeth whiting, the clearing of tonsil stones, specialty chewing gums, and even bad breath treatment systems for pets.
The first product up is the TheraBreath Toothpaste.
I will confess at first I wasn't to impressed with the toothpaste. I have been using toothpaste that foams for so long that when I started using TheraBreath Toothpaste I felt like my teeth weren't getting the same kind of clean. Instead of giving up I headed to their website to do a bit of research and this is what I found.
*taken from their FAQ section*
Almost all commercial toothpastes contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SOAP), placed in toothpaste in order to create a foaming action, so that you think that something is actually happening. It has no beneficial effects at all. Unfortunately it will also inhibit the potency of the active ingredients in TheraBreath products. That is why those who use Oxyfresh toothpaste should read the ingredients in their toothpaste: It contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate! This will negate the benefits of the oxidation process.
All this time I thought the foam was important and it was really doing something. Boy do I feel sheepish. (sorry couldn't resist Aladdin is on).
It took a few days to get used to the feeling of brushing my teeth without the 'foam' but I did start noticing a difference in the way my teeth felt. They felt cleaner and my breath was sure smelling better (as was Mikes!).
To kick the war against bad breath up a notch we started using the TheraBreath Oral Rinse in conjunction with the TheraBreath Toothpaste.
The two products are made to compliment each other and do so wonderfully. Again I had to get used to doing things a bit differently than what I was used to. When using the mouthwash with the toothpaste you do not rinse your mouth out with water in between the time you spit the toothpaste out and put the mouthwash in. What you say, no rinsing with water? Trust me when I say this, it was a hard pill for me to swallow. Once again I turned to TheraBreath's main webpage to get some answers.

TheraBreath Toothpaste and Oral Rinse are designed to work together as a two step process to knock out bad breath producing bacteria and their odors. The TheraBreath Oral Rinse reacts with the Toothpaste in a patented Oxygenating process to thoroughly clean your mouth. Rinsing the Toothpaste out of your mouth prior to introducing the Oral Rinse disrupts this process and makes the regimen far less effective. While it may take a bit to get used to not rinsing with water, we are sure you will be very impressed with the results once you do.
Well they are right I was very impressed when I finally got over it and stopped rinsing with water. There was no funny aftertaste like I feared, my mouth not only felt clean but also felt fresh.
I am thoroughly impressed with their dental care products. And because I can easily get them at Target, Walmart, Walgreens and a vast variety of other local locations I plan on using TheraBreath exclusively.
Now other than dental hygiene products they also make other things like the TheraBreath Mouth Wetting Lozenges.
Of the three products we tried this is by far Mike's favorite. He takes a few to work with him almost every day. If you suffer from dry mouth you really need to give these lozenges a try. They are strong but they aren't as strong as Altoids. They have a great minty flavor and you can feel the cool rush all the way down your throat you when you breath. On top of that they get the saliva working in your mouth to help take care of those dry mouth problems.
TheraBreath Mouth Wetting Longezes work in three stages.
- Stage 1 uses our pleasant citrus mint formula to quickly eliminate any unpleasant flavors or odors in your mouth.
- Stage 2 uses the power of Zinc, Oxygen, and Xylitol - our clinical strength active ingredients -to attack the germs that cause bad breath.
- Stage 3 introduces our proprietary salivary agent to eliminate dry mouth and stimulate your body to produce saliva, a powerful germ fighting agent.
While the TheraBreath products are a bit more expensive than most commercial toothpaste you are really getting a high quality product. For me it's worth the few extra bucks to avoid unneeded chemicals and really bad breath.

I read about how tongue scraping is really not effective by itself...even though that is what most dentist (including mine) prescribe. Bacteria cant live on the tongue which is at surface level, bacteria lives below surface level.

I think I would benefit most from Thera Breath. I have suffered from bad breath from far to long and have tried multiple remedies that never quite work or are far too painful.
